In July 2026, the Green Industrialisation Campaign in Senegal combined two media field visits with a national roundtable to explore how the country’s green transition is taking shape in practice.
Journalists first visited SOCOFEL and Saliou Fall’s farm in Diogo, where solar energy is supporting agricultural production and helping reduce post-harvest losses, before visiting the Taïba N’Diaye Wind Farm, where renewable energy investments are also contributing to local development and opportunities for surrounding communities.

The campaign concluded with a national roundtable in Dakar, bringing together around 70 participants from government, the private sector, academia, civil society and the media. Discussions highlighted both the opportunities of green industrialisation for competitiveness and local development, and the barriers that remain, including access to finance, ageing industrial equipment and technical skills.

Across the activities, one message stood out: green industrialisation can support economic competitiveness and local development, but scaling it will require stronger financing, skills, technology and sustained dialogue among public institutions, businesses, researchers, communities and the media.
