Chile, UK, and Madagascar Join the Blue NDC Challenge at NYC Climate Week

The Blue NDC Challenge, jointly launched by Brazil and France, is gaining momentum as countries move toward COP30, urging nations to place the ocean at the heart of their climate strategies. The initiative calls on governments to incorporate marine conservation, renewable ocean energy, sustainable fisheries, and coastal resilience in their Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs).

So far, countries such as Australia, Fiji, Kenya, Mexico, Palau, Seychelles, Chile, the United Kingdom, and Madagascar have joined the campaign. The challenge highlights that ocean-based solutions could provide up to 35% of the emissions reductions needed to keep global temperatures from spiking.
